Portugal

Here, finally are a few of the pictures from my weekend in Portugal. We went to see the Swedish Match Tour, a sailing event. I am not into sailing at all but the husband had to be there for work reasons and I was more than happy to go along too.

Cascais is a really pretty little city by the sea, close to Lisbon and Sinta. Here's the fishing port:

Here's the boat racing:

and here's another shot:

and looking at the beautiful houses that are down by the coast:

and finally, there was this charming lighthouse that I fell in love with:

I have made a tiny bit of knitting progress although I am a little embarassed about how little I seem to have fitted in recently... I have been going out nearly every night or come home so late that I was too exhausted to pick up the needles. Is one allowed to say that? I should probably be ashamed of being so uncommited to my craft:)

Here is the Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino boat neck sweater that I finished for my next door neighbour's baby girl:

I have really enjoyed knitting this jumper. The yarn really is a pleasure to knit with and the pattern is about as simple as they come. Knit 2 squares and then knit 2 sleeves. Sew it up. No picking up stitches (I am hugely in favour of minimising all picking up of stitches whenever and wherever possible). Right, my sister is here so I am going to go and pay some attention to her.

Hello Amelia, I've been reading your blog for a while and following your knitting adventures. It's nice to know you've spent a weekend here in my country and that you've enjoyed your stay. Hope you'll be able to come again some time!

i just made the boat-neck sweater too, but used a varigated merino wool from morehouse farms. it's really lovely, and the minimal finishing was terrific. did you run across morehouse while you were in NYC? they are based in the hudson valley, but have a stand at a couple of greenmarkets. and the portugal pictures are wonderful!

Oh, Amelia, Hubbo and I spent a few nights in Cascais during our honeymoon four hundred years ago. Hope you had a great time there.
