Exhausted!

I had forgotten how tiring this work malarkey was... I can barely stand today! The job is going well though, the team is friendly and I am gradually getting my head around it. I am going to try to keep updating Knitter Natter but please bear with me - I am hardly getting any knitting done at the moment.

I did cast on and swatch for the husband's sweater. I am using the Debbie Bliss cotton dk in navy blue.

Gurnsey swatch

I always thought that cotton dk was a bit of a dull yarn and it was also a bit thick for my liking (what with my love for all things 4-ply). And then I knitted some squares using a cotton dk for a blanket and I changed my mind. For the blanket I used the Rowan cotton dk (or Handknit cotton as it's now called) and I had the same thought that I am having about the Debbie Bliss cotton dk - it's a lot softer and a lot nicer to knit with than I had expected.

So, who knows, he just might have a lovely sweater one of these days. Oh and there is a minor miracle going on - I have changed the way that I hold my yarn and I have got the correct tension on the correct needles. You could have knocked me over with a feather.

I have also made a lot of progress on Flighty, which isn't too hard seeing as it is quite a small item even if it is in 4-ply.

Flighty back

Have you seen how many ends there are to sew in though?? I must be insane. I think that's the end of my adventures with striping, too many ends to deal with :)

But please don't go saying that I don't like colour... Here's a snap of some colours from my stash that I was playing with the other day.

Do I have colour or what?

It's nice to know someone else who appreciates 4-ply yarn (since I seem to be surrounded by I-won't-touch-anything-smaller-than-a-4.0mm-needle crowd).

You definitely "have color"!! I love knitting with cotton.

i LOVE the color combination on flighty.

There's a picture of a knitted cake on my blog that you might like to see... they seem to be all the rage. There's also a picture of one on the back of the current issue of Rebecca magazine.

That first week back does tend to knock you off the ballast doesnt it. I am hoping that will be next week for me :) Then we can go purchase yarn together!

As for the ends, why dont you twist the colors going up the sides?? If it is not knit in the round, and they are going to be seamed in... Then again I like weaving ends in, it is seaming I can't stand :)

And I throroughly approve of that orange tinge, springy weather or not if I had the dosh I'd be buying pumpkin cashemerino aran and busting out something :)

I tagged you! I couldn't find your email address at work. But check out my blog. Perhaps it's a bit of mindless posting while you adjust to the stresses o'working. So glad you are enjoying it!

Wow Amelia, Flightly looks great. Love the colours you have going on!

I have got a strippy project coming up and my first thought was 'the ENDS!'. Good luck!

Interested to know how you have changed your knitting style to get the correct tension on the 'right' needles - what are you doing differently?

OK - that's colour - but when are we going to see you wearing the orange?
