C'est la vie!

Sometimes you come across a project that you just can't seem to bring yourself to finish. C'est la vie has, quite accidentally, turned into one of those.

I blocked her ages ago, I think it was at the end of March.

C'est la Vie

And then I started on the ruffle. Ah. Jill had warned me. So had Dawn. But I figured I was strong. I could take on the instruction to pick up 446 stitches. And increase to 666 stitches. Over 9 rows. Twice.

Here's the first side set of ruffles (you do it in two lots). That was, I believe around the beginning of April. And then I lost the will to live.

C'est la Vie

But today, I have picked it back up and I am determined to cast on, knit and finish the ruffle today if it kills me. Which it probably will.

And yes, I am using 3 sets of circular addis to deal with all those stitches which makes it even more dangerous than knitting with dpns...

A bottle of wine and Pride and Prejudice - that's my kind of night in, Yvonne :-)

I had a ruffle issue on Alice from Rowan 25 (I've looked for a picture but can't find one). So bloomin fiddly. But it's one of my most successful handknits ever. I'm still lovin' it lovin' it lovin' it and am really glad I finished it. Mind you I was considering knitting another one the other day, but now I've remembered the ruffle bit, I think I'll give it a miss...

Gah! I can only imagine...
But think about how pretty it will be and how proud you'll feel once done and all the ooohs and aaahhhs...

It really is worth it, I have got a lot of wear out of mine this last winter......and you will be so pleased when it is done. I should save the wine until is IS finished, other wise you could go just the teeniest bit wrong.....

Courage, mon amie!

You do realise that it is the 666 stitches that saps the strength? That number isn't the sign of the beast for nothing! I think Yvonne's suggestion of the bottle of wine is spot on, it needs alcohol to make so many stitches bearable. Best of luck with it.

i hope you've sorted out already who gets to inherit your stash when the ruffle kills you ...

I feel for you! If you can read and knit, now's the time to do it; the time, and knitting, will fly by. You're on the home stretch now!

You can do it!

It took me about a year to go back and do the ruffle on mine, in the end I found that watching Pride and Prejudice on dvd and a good bottle of wine helped the process along.
