C'etait la vie

Two posts on my blog in a week, I am reeling from the shock! Thank you to all of you who left encouragement and suggestions on how to deal with the ruffle of c'est la vie. Yvonne's suggestion of Wine and Pride & Prejudice appealed, but The West Wing won over - I was watching the old ones with Rob Lowe, you see.

And I won! (The stitches nearly did, mind you. I cannot tell you how mind numbingly dull it is to pick up 400 odd stitches and increase to 600 odd. Blah).

C'est la Vie

Da daaa... The picture above shows the real colour of the shawl. Isn't it lovely?

I don't blame those of you who thought I was mad when I said I was casting on for this. The colours that were used in the pictures on the Fiddlesticks site don't do this any justice whatsoever.

C'est la Vie

I was lucky that I got to see Dawn and Jill's and realised just how lovely this was.

C'est la Vie

Here it is with wingspan. The colour is a little off on here (I am not that pale!) but it should give you a good idea of how the shawl is constructed.

I have to say that I loved working with the Rowan Magpie Aran, now sadly discontinued. And I will have to think very hard about what to knit with 10 balls of Magpie that I still have in a beautiful soft green, Morning Dew.

Suggestions anyone?

As my favorite Welsh innkeeper would say "Gorgeous!" (obviously in an awesome Welsh accent). Well done, you!

what lovely colours and what beautiful garments!! What do you use as a blocking borard? Ifit is a 'real' blocking board, where did you get it?

It is so lovely - much, much nicer than the Fiddlesticks model. They should definitely use your photograph. It'll be perfect for wearing in your Welsh knitting retreat!

PS. I find a few episodes of The West Wing really help my knitting along too.

Just beautiful. I love the colour and thought it was DK, so am surprised that it's aran. It looks more delicate than that in the shots. Superb.

oh wow! that is stunning. i have to admit i was rather sceptical when you first said you were knitting it...but i have seen the light and been converted away from my evil ways.

c'est la vie is absolutely stunning...and how cosy does she look. i can't wait to see her in person when we adjourn to the welsh knitting retreat.
