One of the big problems of having a knitting blog is that if you are knitting presents for other people you can quite quickly find yourself without anything to talk about. I have 2 gifts on the needles at the moment, both for people who look at my blog at least now and again so I am struggling to find anything to write about.
I am making progress on Dandelion but do you really want to see more pictures of lilac cotton dk stocking stitch? I thought not.
And I've been really good and have still not bought joy, but shall do on the 1st of May (the husband thinks that I am going to stay up late the night before so I can submit the order at about 30 seconds after midnight. I have talked about it rather incessantly...)
So instead I give you a picture of some gorgeous yarn.

And the project that it will grew up to be.

The yarn is Alpaca Silk from Blue Sky Alpacas and the pattern is the Lace Leaf shawl from Fiber Trends. I have skeined the yarn and it's just waiting for some of the other projects to be finished.
What gorgeous yarn, I love the colour and the shawl pattern , Look forward to seeing your progress in due course. Well done with the willpower over purchasing Joy, not long to go to now ;-)

hmmm that could be an idea for my alpaca silk... a lace birch that I got from my favorite someones... :)
Posted by: stinkerbell at April 26, 2007 06:02 PMOh, that alpaca silk. It will make a beautiful Leaf Lace!
(And I'm always up for seeing gorgeous stocking stitch in gorgeous yarn in a gorgeous color... but maybe that's just me. :)
Posted by: Amy at April 26, 2007 04:02 PMThe color is gorgeous!
Posted by: hege at April 26, 2007 03:10 PMThe colour of the Alpaca & Silk is gorgeous. I understand you not wanting to reveal any gift knitting here, hints of colour and style can be revealing. If I knit anything in red shown on my blog, my sister (as it is her favorite colour) can pretty much assume it's for her! :)
Posted by: brooke at April 26, 2007 01:13 PMThat yarn looks gorgeous. Can't you give us a little peek into what you are knitting? Who will know? Knowing a little about the story behind making the gift will make it all the more special.
I found Faye - she had been hiding in the loft since last May, so I've cast on so that it might be finished by autumn....

Posted by: Sarah at April 26, 2007 11:36 AMIt's sometimes fun to blog about a gift and the reader doesn't realise it's for them.
I can't wait to see Dandelion, and admire your willpower in not buying Joy just yet; I ordered Peace yesterday!
The shawl will be lovely - it's a great pattern.
Posted by: dawn at April 26, 2007 09:36 AMthe recipient won't know the gift is for them unless you say so, so I don't see why yuo can't write about it. I love that shawl too and will one day make it again for me.
